- Q: I just changed my password. Everything went
well, but now, I cannot log on anymore
- Answer 1: Your password is not what
you think it is.
- Imagine your old password was: XRaymond.
- Now, you believe that you have changed the password
to: 123ABC
Your password is PROBABLY: 123ABCXRaymond
(New + Old Password). See also next Q/A.
- Answer 2: Your login name has been
TRUNCATED down to 8 (eight) characters (the password is certainly fine).
Try to log on again, but limit your input to 8 characters.

- Q: How do I really change my password to WHAT
I WANT
- A: Follow the following instructions:
The screen originally looks like that:

First, you have to eliminate the ****** from the password
field (use the delete key).
At this point your screen should look like (after deleting
the ******, your old password).

- Q: When I try to access the protected site,
I log on once, and then I am prompted for another password
A: That is normal, and this is due to our validation
procedure. If you bookmarked a protected area, you would be prompted
for the password only once. Don't be confused by the fact that the login
procedure is different: the login name and password are the same.

- Q: When I try to access the site I get a cryptic
"JAVA Script Error" message
A: The likely answer is: your browser is not Netscape
3.x or Internet Explorer 3.x. (note that some users have reported using
Netscape 2.2 successfully). In that case, you need to upgrade your system.

- Q: When I try to access a page or
download a document I get the message: HTTP/1.0 404 Object Not Found
A: Please e-mail us: this indicates a broken link
(the document may exist, but is referred into a directory to which you
do not have access to).

Q: When I reach the Committee Pages
after a successful login, I can't seem to be able to go any farther:
the buttons to the committee pages have no effect
A: your browser is set so that it will
not run JavaScripts.
Fix for Netscape 3.xx: In the menu: Options /
Network Preferences / Select the "Languages" tab, and check
"Enable JavaScript"
Fix for Internet Explorer 3.xx: In the menu:
View / Options / select the "Security" tab, and check "Enable
Java Programs"

Q: When I try to reach the protected
area, my system times out (after many seconds, the browser announces
that it cannot find the Web server)
A: two solutions: the server is really
down, or your company-wide security is such that you are not allowed
you to reach Web servers identified only by IP addresses (as it is the
case for the JEDEC protected area server). Please, verify with your
tech support if it is the case. Same symptoms may occur if you are using
a proxy server: you may not reach WWW servers identified by their IP's.
Again, ask your tech support for resolution of the problem.

Q: When I try to gain access to another Committee (JEDEC ONLY),
I select the committee from the pull down menu, but it has no effect?
A: the problem is not serious: simply
select the alternate (if you were trying to reach the primary committee)
or the primary committee list (if you were trying with the alternate).
In any case, keep in mind that a committee and their alternate have
the EXACT same content.

Q: My company is a maximum due payer
but I cannot gain access to ANY committee. How come?
A: Even though your company is a maximum
due payer, the security system doesn't know it, as a result, you can
grant yourself access only within the limit of a given committee. For
example: you are a JC-42 member. You can access to JC-42-3, 42-3A 42-5
etc..., but you cannot access JC-11. What you really need to do, is
be added to the list of a committee, then, the web system will know
about it 24h later, and let you in the new committee you requested.
Please contact our staff person in charge of our membership (see Roster),
to be added to the committee list.

Q: I have forgotten
my password
A: Simply click here. You will
be prompted to give your e-mail address, and if it matches what we have
in our database, you will receive it by e-mail. If your e-mail is more
than 25 characters, don't use this form.

Q: I don't know how to read the "pdf" files (e.g. documentX.pdf)
A: Simply click here and look for "Get Acrobat
Reader" (an Icon at the bottom of the page): it will take you Adobe's
web site. Adobe is the company that created the "portable dcoument
format, pdf, format. The pdf reader called Acrobat, is a free software,
that can be run on almost all flavor of computers: PC's (all OS') Mac's
Unix machines...
